Newly improved OFW Lounge opens at NAIA Terminal 1

MANILA – The bigger and better OFW (overseas Filipino worker) Lounge at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1 was officially inaugurated on Monday.

This is the second lounge funded by San Miguel Corp.-led New NAIA Infra Corp. (NNIC). The airport has so far accommodated over 706,000 OFWs since the first lounge’s opening at Terminal 3 in July 2024.

The OFW lounges are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

These lounges, which the NNIC described as the operator’s way of honoring the OFWs, serve complimentary food and drinks.

They also have resting areas, charging stations and secure baggage storage rooms.

Meanwhile, the inauguration on Monday was led by First Lady Louise “Liza” Araneta-Marcos and NNIC president Ramon Ang.

Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) Administrator Patricia Yvonne Caunan were also present.

To recall, the OFW Lounge at Terminal 1 was first introduced last year as a joint project of the House of Representatives, OWWA, DMW and Manila International Airport Authority.

The airport’s OFW lounges can be used for free, regardless of the type of tickets the OFWs are holding. (PNA) By Ma. Cristina Arayata
