President Duterte has declared Thursday, May 13, 2021, a regular holiday across the country in observance of the Eid’l Fitr, that marks the end of month of Ramadan.
In Proclamation No. 1142, the President said the nation should have a full opportunity to join their Muslim brothers and sisters in peace and harmony in the observance of Eid’l Fitr subject to community quarantine and social distancing measures.
Eid’l Fitr is celebrated by the Muslim world for three days after the end of the month of fasting.
“In order to bring the religious and cultural significance of Eid’l Fitr to the fore of national consciousness, it is necessary to declare Thursday, 13 May 2021, a regular holiday throughout the country,” the proclamation read.
The latest holiday declaration on the Feast of Ramadan was made upon the recommendation of the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos. The holiday proclamation was signed by the President on May 10, 2021.
Republic Act No. 9177 declares Eid’l Fitr, Feast of Ramadan, as a regular holiday throughout the country. The date of the holiday depends on the Islamic calendar.
